Join us for a Harvard Case Study
Monday, January 25th 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Zoom
Democracy and Women’s Rights in America: From Women’s’ Suffrage to the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment)

This month we will be joined by South High Teacher Jennifer Synowiecki, who was trained in 2019 in the Case Study Method at Harvard University, Boston, MA. Ms. Synowiecki will be moderating this discussion with several South High students who experienced the case study in class.
The Case Method by Harvard Business School requires students to walk in the shoes of decision-makers by considering all facts within contexts of time. This process ignites discussion and does not intend to focus on particular views, but to identify approaches within decision making itself. Harvard Business School is implementing cases in schools and communities because feedback from prior participants have cited greater motivation to become civically engaged.
The case, Democracy and Women’s Rights in America focuses on decisions surrounding the Equal Rights Amendment put forth to states by congress in 1972. The case will cover rights of women from America’s founding, the road to women’s suffrage, and initial proposals to add the ERA to the United States Constitution.
Be prepared to be an active participant in the case to discuss facts, think critically, and learn more about American Democracy. The event is designed to encourage those of all ages in our community from students to seniors – to recommit to our democratic process of healthy debate and constructive compromise.
Registered participants will receive the case study 30 days prior to the event by email. Participants should prepare their case along with answers to questions provided prior to the event.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
